Got Old Jeans?

We have soooooooo many friends having babies. So, I was pretty delighted to find this Bib Tutorial this morning at Frugal Family Fun Blog. Very practical, attractive and if you have the denim laying around I think it would be pretty inexpensive to sew these bibs.

Chilly

There is a chill in the air as Fall approaches. Every Fall I feel inspired to start new (crafty) projects. I have been thinking about jewelry making and knitting. This afternoon, while surfing my favorite Blogs, I found this tutorial on a Rice Bag Feet Warmer. Now that is a great Fall Project (and may even make great Christmas gift)?! "Cause WHO likes cold feet? Not me!

Check out the step by step directions Here. A perfect project for even the novice sewer.

Back in the Saddle?

It's been a LONG tine since I sewed. But I made this small to medium sized purse with out any set backs. I am wondering if Joy will like it??? If not...have to "try, try again"! By the way, this purse has enough room for lip gloss, cell phone and a wallet. There is 1 pocket inside that matches the exterior fabric (which I must add is by Amy Butler)!! The interior lining is a durable silk. 1 Brass magnetic snap keeps the purse closed.

Arm Warmers

This is our daughters new love: arm warmers! I have made her one pair following (some of the) directions found at OrangeJuicy. This DIY project uses tube socks. We used a very strippy pair and Tirzah is very pleased. (In fact, on the 1st day that she was given them, I discovered that she actually wore them to bed ...hee-hee!)
I found another tutorial at Stitchlounge that has directions that you can download. I'll let you know how it turns out.

(Love the ornaments that she has made out of denim scraps!)

A new style...

I saw this purse today at "How About Orange" and think I shall have to try to sew one. I have only done the bigger (rectangular shaped) messenger bags. It will be neat to try a variation. I am looking forward to sewing in the new year. Enjoying a little break right now...

This is a picture of some fabric i have...wondering if Joy likes it??

Sewing projects this month

I call this the Lockwood purse, since they were the ones that blessed me with the fabric to sew this pretty bag. It will make a great Spring and Summer bag.

The Grey bag with contrasting funky Amy Butler fabrics was fun to sew. I also sewed a bag for a customer with all funky Amy Butler fabrics on the exterior and that same grey as a liner.

The Funky Bag Lady

Anyone who hasn't discovered Etsy yet, is really missing out. What a great place to not only sell your handmade goodies, but what a wonderful place to get inspired and also SHOP!

The lady who makes these purses has a store on Etsy called "The Frumpy Bag Lady". She describes herself as "a frumpy mom who loves funky bags! She also love chocolate, Labradors and scrapbooking." Check out her store and look at some more of her beautiful bags. LINK!!

MARTHA STEWART craft/decorating idea

I was looking at the MS web site and getting inspirations for my Holiday decorating...

"These stockings are just large enough to hold a small gift or sweet for each of the 24 days of Advent. If your tree is too small to hold 24 stockings, hang the rest from a ribbon swag.

Use a computer to print numbers, then cut them out and glue them to metal-rimmed tags; or label the tags by hand. Use felt in various colors, and add ribbons in complementary hues.

If you like, hang a swag of stockings without tags across the mantel, tie them onto gifts, or hang them from the tree."

Christmas bag

I finished up this purse today. Makes me think of Christmas. Can you see the dove?? (That is what I see in the design on the fabric)!

GRATITUDE

I love my friend, Amy!

Today she showered me with gifts...buttons, sewing accessories, and 3 beautiful fabric. I am blessed with her gifts but more than that with her friendship.

Latest fancy purse

Purse for Cheryl M!

A few weeks ago, my friend Cheryl sent me a surprise...some fabric. I enjoyed sewing myself a bag and then a few days ago, I sewed a purse for Cheryl. If she reads my blog in the next few days, she will be able to see her purse before it arrives in the mail!! I had fun making it and think that it will really suit her.
