Tongues of Fire...

...making both a dramatic and beautiful statment as it hangs from the ceiling in our Church Foyer. ~Just in time for Penticost Sunday and a reminder to all of us of God's promise.

This photo was taken by a friend just with her phone so it really does not do it justice but gives you an idea of what it looks like. There are many strips of fabric, cut at the bottom to resemble tongues of fire. When a breeze hits, it "dances" beautifully. Stunning!

Etsy Favorite

It's been awhile since I posted about art, design or an Etsy Artist. Today while looking at Etsy this seller's work really got my attention. The artist is Canadian but is living and has lived in Paris for the past 3.5 years. She uses gemstones and precious metals to create beautiful and unique pieces. Here are a few of my favorite items. You can see much more at her site: HERE

Still life

This silver pedestal dish was my Grandmothers (and possibly my Great Grandmothers...I will have to ask my mom). I use this dish quite a bit when taking photo's of fruit. One has yet to make it in to one of Shaun's paintings. But I think it is bound to happen eventually!

Pepper Painting

It started with this photograph.

Shaun started a water colour painting over the Holidays and he is a little past half finished it. I always enjoy seeing the art evolve, so I have decided to share what the painting looks like unfinished.

I will post a picture of it at its completion as well. If you want to see more images of this unfinished painting you can look at our
Art Blog.

Warm Fuzzies

That's what Christmas does to me. I feel filled with "happy"!

Shaun took this picture of our tree. A painting that he has done, hangs on the wall behind it. In the photo it looks like the icy window in the back ground with candles and Holly Ivy along it is real. Did it fool ya?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my husband; Shaun #38!!

Sunday, December 16, 2007

I love that my husband is creative and I am thankful for all the art that he brings to my life. This was a design that he did 3-4 years ago. I used it as a screen saver. You can see a larger image of it, of you click on it.

We stayed home today because of a heavy snow fall (it is still snowing). I made Sugar Cookies (see Rhonda's Blog for the recipe) and the 4 of us had a wonderful time decorating them with a glaze and sprinkles.

The kid's have only 1 week of School left and then they have 2 weeks of Christmas Vacation! Shaun has only 1 more week at his job and then a week of Holidays and then he starts his NEW job!! We are all very excited about that. What a great way to start the New Year!

(Please do not use this image with out my permission.)

Buttons...

Found this button wreath at "Craftapalooza" today. She made it with a combination of vintage, newish and scrapbooking buttons. Very nice!

Christmas Craft

Look what I found at Misadventures of Mama and Jack. She used over 500 buttons and it took a long time (more than 8 hours) to make. But isn't it pretty?!

Art Show: Shaun's creations
& Magda's creations

Shaun busy at work at the Art Show. This piece sold, even before it was completed. (Thanks again to our biggest fans...my mom and dad)!

Shaun's medium is usually watercolour. But also does some coloured pencil work and photography.

Magda's medium is Oil and/or Acrylic as well as mixed media.

I enjoyed my day being surrounded by beautiful Art! We didn't sell as much as we had hoped, but are trusting God that divine appointments were made and that we will see some good things happen as a result in the near future.

Art Show: Holly's creations

Here are some of the purses that I had for sale at the Art Show. Unfortunately only the Orange one sold (thank you to my MOM...one of my biggest fans)! I have claimed the Messenger Bag as my own. It's my favorite that I have sewed so far...so I am treating myself! It is pictured hanging on a chair, made out of tapestry type fabric. In the top photo you can see a few of the cards, featuring our photography.
