A Love Story
I have been thinking a lot lately about the great love that my husband (Shaun) and I are blessed to share. I think it is because our 14th Wedding anniversary is only weeks away.
Shaun and I met at Circle Square Ranch on Sussex New Brunswick when we were both teenagers. I was 14 and he was close to 18. Over the next several Summers we both continued to return to the Ranch to work and we became good friends. After Summer ended Shaun and I began to keep in touch, writing a few letters back and forth. The following Summer, after I graduated from Highschool I was back at the Ranch. By this time Shaun's parents were Full Time Staff at the Ranch and living there year around. Shaun was staying with them...so we saw more of each other...and feelings for each other grew. Long story short, we began dating. I was planning on leaving that September to go to Cambridge Ontario to attend a DTS (Dicipleship training school) with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). So, several weeks after we began dating I moved to Ontario.
Shaun and I wrote many, many letters to each other. Because neither of us had much money we only talked on the phone once a week. I came home at Christmas for a week and my parents were gracious enough to share me with Shaun and his brother's family for another week. I left again for YWAM and went to Guyana, South America, on a 6 weeks missions trip. It was there that I realized I truly loved Shaun and I wanted to marry him!! When I got home in February, Shaun had started working at a Ship Yard on huge military vessels. Because Shaun lived in New Brunswick and I lived in PEI we only were able to see each other on weekends, holidays, etc. Our phone calls were daily now and I still wrote letters to Shaun continually. About a month after I got back from YWAM, Shaun told me that he loved me! In the months that followed we began to talk about getting married. We were so blessed to be mentored my my good friends Melanie and her husband Ronnie. We got engaged that Sept and then were married 7 months later.
The first year we were married was fairy tale perfect. The next 6 years were much more challenging as we dealt with our own personal issues, grew and matured and as well had 2 children. Shaun and I made the HUGE decision to make a move from little PEI to Ontario. He returned to College for 3 years and worked very hard. Those were years of stretching and we weathered some difficult storms.
By the time we reached year 8th of our Marriage we were living in a new City in Ontario. I think it was around that time that we really realized that we needed to press into God even more closely and needed to rely on Him more even in our marriage. We made the decision to pray together, daily. Here we are today... I am so blessed to start each day in the arms of my husband, praying with him. (I know many couples can't do this because of work schedules, etc.)
What we had at the beginning was great but what we share together now is so very deep and lovely. I look forward to our future together...
I am so thankful for Shaun, my husband of (almost) 14 years. I simply adore him and feel adored by him. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!!! THANK YOU GOD!

Beautiful love story Holly. What a wonderful heritage that you two have created to pass on to your children. You have certainly built your lasting covenant on a Godly foundation. Bless you both!!!!!

I pray blessing on you and Shaun, your marriage and your family.
God is so VERY faithful isn't He?
He knows who will compliment us perfectly, and He will work with us and fine tune us in our storms...as long as we are willing.
I am amazed repeatedly how though we sort of knew each other all those years ago, He could take all four of us from three different provices, plunk us in a fourth, and knit us together, even our kids....He is SOOOO good, and you have all been such a blessing to me.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!
Happy Anniversary! It has been evident to me that you and Shaun ADORE each other!!

What a great story!! Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary to you and Shaun. I still remember this first time we meet you both at our duplex you'd answered an ad we'd placed in the paper. I remember then thinking what a cute couple you were. At that point I knew nothing of your story or the fact you were Christians.....it was just evident that you adored each other.
For any reading - this Saturday night we're having a gathering at our place for any of our church couples married 10 years or less. It starts at 7 pm and we welcome you bringing your favorite dessert. It's simple a night of connecting and of course grazing!!! YUM!
Rats...we are 4 years over!! But Amy, Tamar, Tammy K, and maybe Teena are at the 10 year, I think???
Rats for me too...
We will be 18 in August...wait a minute!!!! I AM 18 !!!!!!...oh, I keep forgetting, that is in my head...and heart!
