Parents and their Children's Sports
Our daughter won second place in the 1500 meter race yesterday. She was so excited!! Tirzah says that she loves to run because it makes her feel happy.
When Tirzah finished second another little girl was close behind her and finished third. However, only the 1st and 2nd place, get to move on to the "District Meet". Well....there has been some drama! The little girl who Tirzah finished in front of has made a "stink". Says that Tirzah cut on the grass and that she cut her off as well.

The girl's parents called the school this morning, and were very, very upset.
So the lady in charge of the track events had to have a meeting with BOTH the girls, this afternoon. Tirzah said that she did step on the grass a little bit and that it was possible that she "tripped up" the other little girl. She said that she was sorry and that it was not intentional. The lady did tell me that Tirzah was a VERY good sport and I was to encourage her at home, with that.

What they have decided to do, is after the weekend, they are TIMING both girls race. Then they will let who ever is faster go to the "district meet". She said they are treating it seriously (even though the "other" parents are over reacting--in my opinion) because kid's could alienate Tirzah over this and be mean to her-excluding her, etc.On Monday they will re-race and let it get resolved. If Tirzah doesn't beat that other girls time, she will be invited to go as a helper, since she has had such a great attitude...through all of this.

I want my daughter to have a happy social life and I don't want her being picked on. I am proud of her that she is being a good sport and willing to re-race. This event really doesn't matter to me, win or loose...I am just so thrilled that my daughter can run. She is healthy! BUT...It does matter to her though...so may she do her best. May the other little girl do her best. God please bless the parents!

Imagine. They start that young...wow.

Tirzah..you run on the wings of your angel girl!! And in 10 years it won't matter who won the race, only how you treated the other girl...God bless you for your grace.

You're a great mother Holly...

Thank you all for your encouragment. This has been quite stressful for a little 10 year old!! Tirzah had a hard time falling asleep last night and was worried. This morning she woke up feeling happy. She had had a dream that she won the race. She knows that is doesn't mean that she will indeed win, but she said that now she felt confident! Thank you for your prayers. Please pray that she will have favor with her friends. Acceptance...no rejection! I will give you an update with the results...

Talk about mellodrama on the school site! Tirzah is acting like Jesus, and that is what matters most. What a great sport she is. She deserves a medal no matter what.
