TRADITIONS:

Favorite family holiday tradition?
I love the German Tradition that we have kept. That is opening our gifts Christmas Eve. We each take a turn and open only one at a time with everyone watching. This takes hours and hours and we take little snack breaks in between. Sometimes the kids try out their new toy so we wait until they are finished...then keep going. Then on Christmas Day, as soon as the kids get up, they gather on our bed and we open our stockings.

Have you started any new traditions with your family that you did not practice growing up?
Christmas Eve we do not eat a meal but have finger foods that we all love.

What do you love most about the holiday season?
What is not to LOVE?! I love the lights, the trees, the decorations, the shopping for gifts, the excitement building in the kids as they do the daily Christmas count down..., the carols and the Christmas cheer...

What do you like least about the season?
What is NOT to love?

Anyone close to your heart that you will be missing this time of year?
We spent last Christmas with my sister and her family, so I will be thinking of them and wishing we were together again.

What is your favorite holiday food?
Sweets.

All the stockings are arranged so as to designate where everyone will sit for the opening ceremonies.

We open gifts Christmas morning. The gifts are done similar to your family. Our kids take turns playing "Santa" and handing each person in the circle a gift.

The table is set the night before all pretty looking for breakfast - including wine goblets as we do toasts with chocolate milk in our goblets during breakfast.

We used to travel on Christmas now we stay locally and have a very relaxing day. We often watch movies and play games. The last few years I haven't even cooked a big meal just finger foods!!
