Something New
Our son turned 13 last week. Now we find ourselves parenting a Teenager for the first time. Lots of new things await us and thankfully some of our friends have older kids so we can glean off of their experience! This weekend Josiah will be going away with our Church Youth for his 1st ever: weekend away Youth Convention! His Grandparents have paid his way in honor of his special Birthday.
I have started to pack for him this morning. Lots of extra socks (I hope he uses them), some treats and a few changes of clothes. I know God wants to do something very special this weekend in all those beautiful young hearts. It is so exciting, to see God moving through the younger generation. Please agree with me in prayer of blessing them with God's protection, lots of fun and lots of opportunities for them to reach out and grab more of Jesus.
Hey, while we are at it, we better pray for all the adults that are helping out too. Strengthen them Lord and fill them with JOY!
I am sure that I will have some great reports to blog about, next week!

OOhh...I loved youth conventions!! I have MANY great memories!!
Always a mom eh Holly? Packing for a teenager?? Give his future wife a break and let him pack himself (or half pack) I wish my mother-in-law had done that for me...!! Lol (okay...I know...it won't get done unless you do it right? I'm there with ya sista!!)
I'm glad you're packing extra socks. But, don't forget about the deodorant. We're big on Junior Highers bringing hygiene items. :) Especially if they also use those items!!
Oh yes...deodorant is VERY important!!! (It's kinda like the sock situation though...just because it's packed, doesn't mean....well,you get the idea!)
OK, I was thinking I was a bad mother, because just before I sat down, I sent Michael to pack his own bag....Then I read that you'd been packing FOR Josiah!
So the question becomes, Am I a LAZY mom? OR Am I Preparing my future husband like Amy said....I'll take the second please!!!!
You are such a sweet mom Holly.
I have also reminded Michael about the UNDERWEAR with the Deodeorant and clean clothes DAILY....I told him he doesn't want to be one of the stinky JR. HIghers.....I have to say though...I have my doubts!
