Flower Power

Husband had to go to Home Depot today. The kids and I tagged along, just for fun. Guess what? They have opened up their outdoor garden center! At $2. a perennial, who could resist? Not me!!Dianthus deltiodes 'Brilliant' (mine will be bright pink, so not exactly like this pic).

I just heard about the cold weather!
Because this plant is a perennial it will be ok...they will tolerate a light frost. Phew!

Actually, I did buy an annual plant as well: Osteospermum, which is husbands favorite. If I wait to buy it, it always seems to be sold out. So...got it early this year! But, it is inside the house for now!

They look great!! Is it ok to plant outside now? I am anxious but don't want to plant too early and lose them.

Nana Cheryl,
You would be SAFE to wait until it is warmer, in May.

If you want to be a risk taker....plant now but ONLY perennials as they are hardy. DO NOT PLANT ANNUALS YET...unless they are panseys ('cause they tolerate frost).
