Funeral...memories...
Well, we all survived the Funeral. We said goodbye to Auntie Johanna here on earth and tried to comfort her boys. It was a sad day but it was a good day. Bitter sweet.
The Funeral was held at a Church that we used to attend when we lived in Kingston. We went to that Church for 3 years (husband was in College that whole time). But, it has been 8 years since we moved away.
It was pretty amazing that even after all that time we were warmly embraced and welcomed. It was great to re-connect with some very special people. Lots of good memories came back to us not only of Auntie Johanna but other great relationships...
When we came to that Church, we had just moved from little P.E.I. to BIG Ontario! We had a 2 year old and a baby. Shaun was attending College full time. We had ZERO family close by. God knew what our needs were and quickly led us to this Church. We were immediately gathered in and embraced with a wonderful fathering and mothering spirit.
One dear lady provided me and our 2 little ones with one day a week, transportation to a Ladies Bible Study (this went on for the full 3 years)! It was so nice for me to get out of the house and with 2 little ones, I needed all the help I could get!! This same lady and her husband also blessed us with Valentine's Day cards with some cash for Shaun and I to go out on a date. To top it all off they also themselves paid their Daughter to babysit our kids.
When Shaun finally graduated, they told us they wanted to celebrate with us. Again their daughter babysat and we all drove together in "Mr's" sports car. Shaun had the pleasure of sitting in the front with the "Mr." and us ladies chatted in the back seat. They were all dressed up for the celebration. We arrived at a very fancy restaurant where they blessed us with buying us a delicious dinner. They spoke words of praise to Shaun for his hard work and congratulated him on his graduation. They spoke encouragement over me as well and said that I was Shaun's support and personal cheerleader. Wow!
Now, 8 years later...we find ourselves in another phase of our lives. Husband is well into his career now. Our kids are older. We hope we can bless others in some of the same ways that we have been so blessed. Show us God....WHO and HOW?
To quote from the kids movie; Robots: "See a need, fill a need"!

Wow, I can't believe you've been in Belleville for 8 years. I still remember the first time we met at our rental property.
Beautiful Holly. I love the importance of details when it comes to relationships...God is in the details...
You have been a blessing to me, a true friend, one who listens and willingly puts herself in "another's shoes"; you allow yourself to feel a need, this enables you to fill it.
