Happy Mother's Day
Got to spend the afternoon with my momma (and my dad) as well as my husband and our 2 children. Was a very cold day but we stayed cozy inside and the fire was on!
I ordered myself a Mother's Day gift this year. A workout video by Jillian Michaels, called "30 Day Shred".
"Three levels of workouts led by “The Biggest Loser” trainer. These fast-paced exercises will keep you burning fat as you sculpt muscle. The programs build in intensity; you can start with the intermediate level and work up to the advanced program (it’s tough! — moves like plyo-lunges and traveling pushups).
Each workout has three “cycles.” Each cycle starts with three minutes of multi-muscle and isolated strength training. Then it’s two minutes of non-dancy kickbox and athletic-style cardio. That’s followed by one minute of classic abwork (then — no rest — you’ll immediately start a new cycle). Like on the TV show, Jillian is both demanding and supportive. Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells."
Just a few minutes ago, I completed my 1st ever 30 day shred work out. My legs have stopped shaking. My heart rate has slowed. And my abs ache. Over all...I survived and plan on doing another work out tomorrow. After all, it is only 20 minutes...

Good luck! and good for you!
Good for you Holly!
Thank you. Pray for me. I need to commit to this.
That's so good Holly! It'll be well worth it. Wish I was there to join you.
Go Holly Go!
After about a week it won't hurt as much. Trust me, I went jogging with the kids on the weekend and my muscles have just stopped screaming now,...what was I thinking??
Have you been watching The Biggest Loser? Our family is addicted and inspired!! The finale is tonight.
I've been working out nearly every day for about 2 months now ... elliptical machine at home, Wii fit and also been to the gym a several times with my hubby. I feel great, have more energy, fit into clothes I haven't fit into for about 3 years and I've shed 15lbs. Funny thing is, no one has noticed!! Not one person (other than Andrew who sees how hard I'm working) has said, "Wow, looks like your losing weight!" So, it has made me think about my reasons for doing this. It certainly isn't for affirmation from others ... it HAS to be about being healthy.
It seems like the workout don't get easier, but the rewards keep getting greater!! Go for it!! You can do it!
Vicki,
I don't watch that show BUT last year the kids watched a whole season of it (via the Internet) and I was in the same room with them so I pretty much watched it too. It was very inspiring.
Good for you for exercising for 2 Months!! Yah, makes you question your motives, eh? For me, I just want to STOP gaining as I get older and I also want to get rid of some flab and get some muscles in place...I HATE exercising and am so undisciplined...so this is a real test for me...hopefully, blogging about it will help me to be more accountable and see this thing through!!
H.
Way to go Holly! Sounds pretty intense but what a great investment in yourself.
The girls and I have been going for lots of walks together and will soon be biking together, (Maria and I have to buy new ones), and we have also talked about jogging together.
Funny that you mentioned doing that Karen...if it took you a few days to lose the shakes, I should be wobbly for a few weeks!!! LOL!
I want to work out, but I hate taking so much time away from the kids to do it...I'd rather use that time for date nights or tea with friends.
I also figured, I could inspire a more active lifestyle in the girls if we did these things together...besides, they will push me way farther than I will push myself!
Jenny,
It is pretty intence BUT it's ONLY 20 minutes!!! :)
So ... how about a post to update how the work-outs are going??
How's your love/hate relationship with Jillian?? (giggling ...)
